"Marion District Prayer Requests: East Grant Co. Cluster"
for Pastors and Prayer Leaders

Pastors and prayer leaders: Could you distribute this list to people in your church who pray on a regular basis? Feel free to reformat it for a bulletin insert, prayer room notebook, etc., but keep the information as listed by the pastors for each church. Pray blessings for the pastors, too. Thanks!

Praises: Where is God’s hand moving in your church?
Concerns: What’s on your congregations “plate” right now for which you could use some extra prayer support?

Asbury Chapel UMC: John Wallace, Pastor

Praises

1. We have a couple starting a class for young couples to reach the unchurched in our community.

2. We have had a member of our church where God healed her from heart and kidney problems.

Concerns

1. For our ministry of reaching out in our community.

2. Our pastor’s health.

Center Chapel UMC: Jared Jennette, Pastor

Praises

1. We are starting a GED program for eastern Grant County.

Concerns

1. For vision of God’s purpose for congregation in Grant County.

2. We are seeking to become more guest-focused in our ministry.

Fairmount UMC: Amy Convington, Pastor

Praises

1. We are experiencing growth in our worship and Sunday school attendance.  God’s hand is moving in our witness in worship and discipleship.  We also have a core group of youth now attending regularly and making church and their relationship with Christ a priority.

2. We are excited about missions!  We have a youth going to Haiti in June and we have donated 25 scholarships for Operation Classroom.  We are going to enter into support of a missionary for the first time and we are making plans for a mission trip next year – the first in several years.

Concerns

1. We are trying to focus on what God is calling us to do, and who God is calling us to be.  We own two empty lots and we are praying about how we are to use them for ministry in the community.

2. We are becoming a medium-size church – moving from a small church and we need prayer support for how we make this transition without losing our relational and loving DNA.

First UMC of Montpelier:  Michael Lawson, Pastor

Praises

1. A lot of people of going through membership classes.  We are also starting to get more children and youth in our congregation.  I also praise God that our finances are stable both for our church and our preschool.

 Concerns

1.We are trying to build a youth group and new Sunday school class, but we are also in need of teachers.  Please ask God to supply our needs.

2.I have been reappointed and things are just taking off.  Pray for a happy, peaceful and hopeful transition to the new pastor.

Fowlerton UMC: Ella Nickles, Pastor

Praises

1. Glen is going to Israel the first of May.  Glen is a student at Wesleyan College, preparing to become a minister.

2. We are growing and healing.  There were many obstacles to overcome and one by one we are working through them.

Concerns

1. Fellowship Hall – this idea began 11 years ago, but due to lack of strong leadership and interest, it has remained only a dream.  The fellowship hall is very much needed.  We have hung a measuring guide and begun a serious effort to get under way.

2. Reaching the youth in our community.  They are here, but being very reluctant because of a main leader who claims to be atheist.

3. Holy Spirit revival.

Hanfield UMC: Tim Helm, Pastor

Praises

1. We are sending many “Hanfieldites” on short-term missions trips around the globe.

2. There is a new sense of worship and awe in our Sunday morning services.

Concerns

1. Establishing new groups for connecting adults and discipleship and fellowship.

2. Prioritizing ministry objectives.

Hartford City Trinity UMC: Phil Abrams, Pastor

Praises

1. We are putting in new heating and air conditioning in the church after 80 years!

2. We are in the continued process of leadership development.

Concerns:

1. That God would help us to equip our leaders, teachers and staff to raise up other leaders, train them in evangelism/faith witness, mature the Body of Christ and maintain standards of service befitting Disciples of Jesus.

2. Pray for people with terminal and serious illnesses for healing.

Hartford City Grace UMC: Gary Hall, Pastor

Praises

1. Eleven new members; 2 at Grace; 2 at NCW.

2. Starting a possible third campus.

Concerns

1. Starting a possible 3rd campus.

2. Building for NCW – offsite.

Oak Chapel UMC: Al Soultz, Pastor

Praises

1. God would continue to bless our church.

2. Spiritual growth and new converts.

3. Church finances are strong.

Concerns

1. We are considering building a fellowship hall.

2. The growth of the new converts.

3. God would continue to bless our church and ministry.

Pleasantdale UMC: Darren Williams, Pastor

Praises

1. God’s help and guidance in connecting with new families.

2. Showing us how to be active/serving in our community.

Concerns

1. Guidance in our building project preparations.  We will most likely be buying adjoining property this year.  We will also need to decide on building designs.

2. Being able to grow/transition into a larger congregation without hitting all of the pitfalls such changes can bring.

Roll UMC: Steve Landis, Pastor

Praises

1. Faithful saints in the church.

Concerns

1. Pray for God’s will and direction for the future of the church.

Van Buren UMC: Blake Neff, Pastor

Concerns

1. Missions trip to Honduras in July.  Approximately 15 people from the congregation including teens will be going.

2. Joanna and Billy Coppedge are in Arua Uganda with WGM.  Joanna is pregnant and quality medical care is in the capital city (1 hour away).

3. We are in the planning stages of a senior citizens ministry for the Van Buren community; hoping to begin this summer.

Upland UMC, Pastor Robert Neal

Praise

1. The Easter service this year was held at the Eastbrook High School
auditorium. It was a record setting day for attendance and new families are
coming to church now as a result of it.

Concerns:

1.We need prayers for Godly discernment and wisdom as we make decisions
concerning our future plans for growth and ministry.

2. Pray healing for pastor Rob's father-in-law who is recovering from colon
cancer surgery and will soon begin chemotherapy.
